Public Safety Training Center

Southwestern College, San Diego, CA

The project establishes a new consolidated campus for Fire Science, Paramedic/EMT, and Police training on the Southwestern Community College Otay Mesa Campus. A new apparatus building houses fire engines, brush trucks, ambulances, and police SUVs and directly connects to a new maneuvering yard and fire training tower. An adjacent training facility will house testing facilities, lockers and storage and expand onto the site to provide indoor and outdoor training grounds. The concrete spray wall and training grounds will collect spray water to an underground tank for re-use to minimize water usage.

The new training facility includes:

  • Classrooms and offices
  • Lockers and showers
  • 5 story fire training tower with rappelling anchors
  • Residential prop building
  • Pitched roof prop
  • Flat roof prop
  • Supply storage
  • Fitness center
  • Covered outdoor eating/meeting
  • Defensive tactics room
  • Firearms training simulator room
