“The Sustainable Home Design Competition” Award Winner

Marlene Imirzian & Associates Architects, working with senior designer Jay Atherton and local engineering and construction experts, was the winner of the $100,000 prize Sustainable Home Design Competition. The partnership of the City of Phoenix and the American Institute of Architects sponsored the award competition for a beautiful, “near net-zero energy” single family home with best potential for wide-spread adoption in the climate zone 2 region. The vision stems from the City’s adoption of the 2050 Sustainability Goals of becoming a carbon-neutral, zero-waste city and to promote the construction of ultra-low energy use homes in the Phoenix marketplace.
